Energy Conservation and Technology

Earlier this month  (February) Angie received a bill  at the Joint Principals' meeting for all the computers that were left on during the month of January.  Our bill was $126. The bill for the entire system was over $19,000. Originally Dr. Martin asked us to pay these bills.  Every teacher and/or assistant responsible for the specific computers that were left on was to pay $1.00 for each night the computer was not shut down.  Dr. Martin  has decided to give us one more free ride. We will not have to pay this bill. Our system's technology department is testing a program that will automatically shut off computers in the system  at 8:00 PM every night. This will save the school system several hundered thousand dollars every year in energy costs.  However, this will not always work so make sure you are shutting down the computers. (or you will be charged if the system's shut off method does not work)
Please continue to be good stewarts of our world and turn off all your equipment every night. Also, please make sure you have trained a student(s) to turn off computers in case there is a substitue in your room.
Thanks, Sally
